how do you make a homemade magnifying glass?

my friend said you could make a homemade magnifying glass and i wanted to try it, anybody know how?? (ezy 10 pnts)

1. Your friend should tell you how, to substantiate the claim. *IF* I were to try: Find some glass of reasonable quality (broken window panes, coke bottles) Make a sand mold of convex shape. Melt the glass (acetylene torch) and poor it into the mold. Cover and let it cool *slowly*. Remove the blank and polish. You might use progressively finer grades of sandpaper, then progress to lapping compound. If you have a lathe or spinning wheel, it might be easier / quicker. You might also wish to talk to someone at (or who works at) an optical shop (makes lenses for people to wear)
