Optics .? What are some interesting optic phenomena? eg. mirage, rainbows, etc and What are some interesting optic instruments? eg microscope, telescopte, camera etc
How can one explain prism dispersion by using nonlinear optics? We all know, that prism disperses white light. We also can obtain mathematical relation between wavelength and deflection angle by using simple linear optics. But I recently heard that the prism itself somehow affects the way light travels through it and that is the question of nonlinear optics. So how can one explain this effect by using nonlinear optics?
Bar optics work with those bottles that have plastic security tops? Having a debate and i am convinced you must be able to get bar optics that work with those bottles that have the tamper proof plastic tops in them. My friend says the only way you can do it is to remove the plastic top which i find hard to believe! If anyone knows more about this then do please help us clear this up. If you know of optics that do work with the plastic security tops and you have a link that would be most appreciated.
How do you assess the quality of telescope optics? I have Barlow 3x, 50x, 250x optics pieces, and it seems that the 50x is great, the 250x is good, the Barlow + 50x is good, too, but the Barlow + 250x is not that good. I want to determine which optics would be the best to upgrade, or if the problem is the limitations of the scope quality. I wonder if the Barlow's quality is being amplified by the other two optics pieces, so that it really comes out in the 250x, or if I'm simply approaching the limits of the scope itself. How would I assess the quality of their constructions? 5" Celestron reflector scope, FYI Some people talk about poor quality optics that come with the new telescopes. What effect does that have on the observing? Chromatic aberation and edge blurring, I suppose, but are there any other effects? Also, how do you calculate the required aperture for a desired magnification. I saw Jupiter and her moons last night, but I could NOT magnify her clearly and large enough to see the Red Spot. Of course, I hadn't considered that the Red Spot might not always be pointing toward the earth. Obviously, I could have waited for Jupiter to be closer to earth, but I'm a little impulsive and impatient when it comes to viewing things. I was hoping better optics would allow seeing Jupiter's Spot in any clear, dark sky.
How to produce multiple image using optics or mirrors? I need to know how to produce multiple image (in an array) in one screen using a projector. I am assuming multiples mirrors and optics lenses could be used but how I can project 9 image of the same picture in an array form (3 columns and 3 rows) and very close each other.
How do you test the speed of fiber optics? I have this science fair project that i have to turn in and I know someone could help me. My topic is "Testing the speed of fiber optics''. Can anyone help me? please?
Is it necessary to study nonlinear systems before studying nonlinear optics? I'm currently studying linear systems theory. However, this summer I will be working with lasers and nonlinear frequency conversion devices. I want to learn as much as I can about nonlinear optics before then, but have no background in general nonlinear systems theory and am only beginning linear systems theory. Is it a futile effort to try to learn nonlinear optics without first learning about nonlinear systems in general?
How does fiber optics help us today? I'm doing a project about fiber optics. I need to answer (How does fiber optics help us today?) or even (What has fiber optics done for us?) I've tried to look it up but nothing if you have a clue please respond.
How to DIY a fibre optics light circuit? Anyone please help me? I'm creating a miniature model for school and just can't seem the right size of light. LED light is too big and I'm wondering if fibre optics do work. But I've never created a fibre optic circuit before. Any idea where to get it and how to create a fibre optic circuit? Or is there a version of LED light that is with a small bulb? Anyone? Please help me, thank you.
What kind of power sources be used for fiber optics? I would like to know what kind of power source could be used on surgical fiber optics which allow the Doctors to view what they are doing. Can batteries or solar power be used on fiber optics 8 to 10 inches long?
Where can I find information on Optics? I am looking for some information on some optics I was given. The box contains a metal slide holder with a built in probe. It also contains a tube with a lens marked EDSCORP on one side and 10 0.25 JAPAN. on the other. There are also two other lenses that are unmarked. I would like any information on these optics or help in finding information. They came from an old science classroom and I have no idea on how old they are. Everything is in excellent condition. There is a little tarnish on the slide holder, and the two smaller lenses show signs of use, but the tube and larger lens very clean.
How important are precision optics in a home-built Dobsonian telescope? I'm going to be building a 12.5" Dobsonian telescope. For the primary mirror, precision optics, of F5 or better and certified, are roughly $1600. Yet many websites sell Chinese imported mirrors, at prices between $500 and $800. Will the quality of the primary make a huge amount of difference in the finished product, or would investing in a better eyepiece yield the same results?
Where would i look to find out when a company would install Fiber Optics? I live out where you can onlt get sattelite high speed internet, however i heard that a company called NOANET ( northwest open acces network) is going to run fiber optics on the highway i live near but i have no idea when.... first is there anyway to find out when? and second is there a low latency internet connection i could get to play on xbox live gold with?
In optics: Is it possible to translate a focal length of a 35mm lens to a magnification value? For example, if I have a 400mm focal length lens for a 35mm camera, can that translate to a magnification level? Most people that aren't familiar with optics or photography ask me what kind of lens I have.... when I tell them it's a 400mm they just kind of look back with a blank stare. I think they would understand better if I could them it was a 10x or 12x or something like that. I'm a entry level independant photographer and I like talking to people about my work to generate possible intrest in doing work for them, and I just want to be able to put things in laymen's terms for them.
How do I clean Sony Alpha 300 viewfinder optics? In both live view and through the standard optical viewer I see dirt on the optics (does not show in picture). How do I clean this? I had dirt on the Sensor but cleaned it by blowing air on it. Thanks I ended up disassembling the viewfinder lenses and cleaning them. The procedure would be pretty difficult for the average Joe so I recommend you take your camera to the shop for cleaning. Thanks
How do fibre optics transmit light? This is one of the questions for a science assignment and I really can't find an answer. I have found many websites explaining about fibre optics but they are too hard to understand. I would appreciate if anyone can help answer me this question in simplest form. Thank you!
How difficult is it to study Engineering or Optics (optometry)? I am looking go to College soon, and haven't been able to decide what to study. I am not amazing in math, but I can get usually pass math classes with a B but again i'm not math genius. How much math does Engineering and Optics cover? I know they involve alot of physics, which is a good thing for me, for I absolutely love physics. However I feel as though I won't be able to excel at these professions due to my lower math skills. Thoughts? (I also do alot of art and might attend an art college)
How do fiber optics work? I know fiber optics are made of glass, but how do they get them to bend in a cable? it is just a property of glass to be flexible when its in really thin rods or what?
Who knows how much a person will make realistically with EMS at&t fiber optics? Did anyone do this and it worked for them? EMS selling fiber optics cable, internet and phone door to door. How difficult was it to make sells and make money. How many hours a day were you working and how much money were you making in those hours realistically and literally. Any help is HIGHLY appreciated. Thanks,
What would be a good optics paper topic? The only criteria is that it covers some aspect of optics or light. I only ask cause it has to be 10 pages, and i can't seem to come up with anything i can cover for that long. also, its an entry level course, there's no math involved. Any topics that are not overly complicated would be great.
How can i answer this optics question for physics? The problem is as follows: A crude symmetric hand held microscope consists of two converging lenses each of focal length 5.0cm fastened in the ends of a tube 40cm long. What is the overal angular magnification of the microscope? Use a near point of 25cm. I need help with this problem i cant even find the equation that i should use. Thanks!
What problem does adaptive optics correct? a) defects in the optics of the telescope, such as the original Hubble mirror b) turbulence in the earth's atmosphere which creates twinkling c) the opacity of the earth's atmosphere to some wavelengths of light d) chromatic aberration due to use of only a single lens objective e) the light pollution of urban areas
How to solve this optics problem with lenses? To focus a camera on objects at different distances, the converging lens is moved toward or away from the film, so a sharp image always falls on the film. A camera with a telephoto lens (f = 215.0 mm) is to be focused on an object located first at a distance of 3.5 m and then at 47.0 m. Over what distance must the lens be movable?
What is the point of fiber optics on a hard disk drive? Really, what is the point, there is no real distance that the data has to travel, from the motherboard to the CPU, and this has to all be converted into light, and then back from light, thus creating overhead I want to know what reasons make this a good decision 20 years and cant explain your answers?
